AAC Block vs Red Brick: Which Is Better for Your Walls?

Wall being built with AAC blocks

Red bricks have been used for a long time. Today, many builders also use AAC blocks. Here is a simple comparison.

Weight

AAC blocks are much lighter than red bricks because they have tiny air bubbles inside. A lighter wall puts less load on beams, columns and the foundation.

Speed of work

One AAC block is much bigger than one brick. So you lay fewer pieces, and the wall goes up faster.

Mortar and joints

Bigger blocks mean fewer joints. AAC blocks are also even in size, so joints can be thin when you use the right adhesive.

Heat

The air bubbles in AAC slow down heat. This can help keep rooms cooler in summer.

Things to keep in mind

  • Do not soak AAC blocks in water like bricks.
  • Use mortar or adhesive made for AAC.
  • Use glass fiber mesh where walls meet beams and columns, to help stop plaster cracks.
  • For fixing heavy items on AAC walls, use the right anchors.

So which one?

For most new buildings, AAC blocks save time and reduce load. Red bricks are still common in many places. Ask your engineer what suits your building. For AAC block prices, send us the size and quantity on WhatsApp.
